Complementary and supplementary angles - animation

It is important to learn to identify the different angles that may appear in a Physic problem.

The following animation will help you see the angle relationships between two perpendicular rays and the Cartesian coordinate system.

• • Two angles are called complementary if their sum is 90⁰.
  • Two angles are called supplementary if their sum is 180⁰.

Modify the α angle between the red ray and the horizontal axis to see its relationship with the following complementary and supplementary angles:

β = 90⁰ – α.
γ = 180⁰ – β = 90⁰ + α.
δ = 180⁰ – α = 90⁰ + β.
